Your First 30 Days on a Recruiting Platform

Most athletes sign up for a recruiting platform, fill in half a profile, and wait. Nothing happens, and they conclude the platform doesn’t work. Here’s the 30-day start that actually produces coach contact.

Week One: Build a Profile a Coach Can Act On

Enter your position, class year, height, weight, GPA, and test scores. Then get your measurables verified—self-reported numbers are the first thing a coach discounts. Add one current highlight reel, 2-5 minutes, with your best work in the opening clips. Finish the whole profile this week. A half-built profile is worse than none; it tells a coach you’re not serious.

Week Two: Learn Your Calendar

Find the contact and evaluation periods for your sport, division, and class year. NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA all run different calendars, and they change by sport. Knowing when coaches can respond stops you from reading silence as rejection during a dead period.

Week Three: Build a Realistic Target List

List 25 to 40 programs across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO. Include reach programs, but weight the list toward schools recruiting your verified measurables and academic profile. Check each program’s roster for your position and class—a program with four returning athletes at your spot is not recruiting you.

Week Four: Start the Conversation

Message coaches on your list inside an open window. Keep it short: who you are, your position and class, two verified measurables, and a film link. Then log every message so you know who to follow up with in two weeks.

What Month Two Looks Like

Update measurables after every test or event, refresh film each season, and work the follow-ups. Recruiting rewards the athletes who keep a live record, not the ones who built a good one once.
